The Black Lives Matter movement has been largely neutered by the widespread adoption of body cameras. Democrats in Wisconsin are trying to bring the movement back, though, smearing police officers for a shooting after having deprived those officers of body cameras.A police shooting in Madison, Wisconsin, has brought out the Democratic smears of police officers. State politicians have flocked to condemn the police, including the leading Democratic candidate for governor, who called the shooting an “execution,” and the city’s mayor, who condescendingly said that the police need “to do better” and that she was feeling “anger, grief, and fear.”

Madison police notably do not have body cameras because the city’s Democratic leaders have not approved body cameras for financial reasons. Conveniently, this allows Democrats to smear these Madison police officers for shooting Corey Ruiz.Except, there is bystander video of the fight between Ruiz and the police that led to him being shot. The video appears to show Ruiz actively fighting against four police officers who are trying to detain him. Officers can be heard loudly announcing that Ruiz has a knife. One officer deploys her taser, which fails (as tasers often do). Another officer then fires multiple shots, killing Ruiz. The video then appears to show officers removing a large knife from his hands.
