Samsung has changed the shape of its foldable business two months before Apple is expected to enter it. The new Galaxy Z Fold8 is shorter, wider and almost passport-sized when closed. Open it and the 7.6-inch display uses a 4:3 ratio associated with a small tablet. Those measurements sit remarkably close to reports describing Apple’s first folding iPhone: a 5.3- to 5.5-inch outer screen, a roughly 7.7- to 7.8-inch inner display and similarly wide proportions.Samsung has also changed the order of its range. The design that followed the Galaxy Z Fold line through 2025 now sits at the top as Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. The new wide Fold8 occupies a separate tier below it, while Galaxy Z Flip8 retains the compact clamshell position. Samsung enters the expected Apple contest with three foldables, established software and a mature sales network. Apple is expected to enter with one.About The AuthorAt heart, I am a storyteller drawn to the watershed moments that bend the technology landscape. I braid narrative with data, humanise statistics, and trace the arc from first spark to world-changing impact. My reportage, features and reviews are witty, sardonic, visual and vivid, using anecdote to illuminate rather than eviscerate.
