July 24 (UPI) -- NBA great LeBron James plans to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, he announced Friday.
Agent Rich Paul told ESPN that James agreed to a two-year, $8 million contract, with a player option. James, 41, said he thought he was finished playing basketball at the end of his 2025-26 campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers, but "wasn't ready to announce it."
James told the Lakers last month that he planned to leave the franchise. He drew free agent interest from the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers, among other teams.
"I was honest at that last press conference when I said I needed to look at myself and decide if I still love this game," James wrote. "I still truly love this game, and I have more to give. The last few weeks have really been special. I've never been able to have no clue what to do and take real time to just think.
