Bank of india (BoI) reported a 36 per cent y-o-y increase in standalone net profit for the first quarter (Q1FY27), reaching net profit at ₹3,068 crore against ₹2,252 crore in the year ago period on the back of a decent growth in net interest income and other income and decline in total provisions.In the reporting quarter, net interest income (difference between interest earned and interest expended) was up about 13 per cent ₹6,833 crore ( ₹6,068 crore in the year ago period).Other income, including fee-based income, treasury income and recovery in written-off accounts, rose 19 per cent y-o-y to ₹2,579 crore (₹2,166 crore).Within other income, profit from exchange transactions jumped 113 per cent at ₹226 crore, recovery in written-off accounts increased 89 per cent at ₹609 crore, and other non-interest income up 87 per cent at Rs 867 crore more than made up for the decline of about 50 per cent in treasury income at Rs 414 crore.Provision for non-performing assets (NPA) increased by 4 per cent to ₹1,144 crore ( ₹1,104 crore). However, the write-back in provisions towards standard assets and others was substantially higher at ₹181 crore (up from ₹ 8 crore).Net interest margin (NIM) was a shade lower at 2.52 per cent against 2.55 per cent in the year ago period.Rajneesh Karnatak, MD & CEO, BoI, said the bank is eyeing inflows of about $1.2 billion via fresh FCNR (B) deposits under the RBI’s limited period concessional swap window. The bank has so far raised $200 million via these deposits since June 8th.Global deposits rose about 15 per cent y-o-y to ₹9,57,924 crore as at June-end 2025. Global advances increased by about 19 per cent y-o-y to ₹7,97,775 crore.Published on July 24, 2026
