The Union Government’s Research Development and Innovation Fund (RDIF) is set to announce and disburse money to the first cohort of around 20 Second Level Fund Managers (SLFM’s) in as early as a week’s time, a senior official said here on Friday.“The first cohort we are almost near to conclusion; within a week’s time we shall be announcing the fund managers whom we are going to support in the first phase,” S P Singh, Nodal Officer In-charge, RDIF. The next phase is also set to favour emerging fund managers, he said.He was speaking at the IVCA (Indian Venture Capital Association) Chennai Circles 2026, an exclusive gathering of investors, fund managers, family offices, and other private market stakeholders to discuss India’s investment landscape, organised by IVCA along with TVS Capital Funds and Anicut Capital.Singh said that the government expects around ₹20,000 crore to be deployed every year, while briefly wondering if the innovation ecosystem was currently mature enough to absorb this.
