Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has called on Elon Musk to cut Ukraine’s access to the Starlink satellite internet system, responding to his recent comments on the war and diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.

In a post on Telegram, Zakharova said she wanted to expand on Musk’s remarks by proposing that Starlink service be withdrawn.

"I would like to expand on this idea and suggest withdrawing Starlink. So that people don't die," she wrote.

Her comments came after Musk again expressed hope that the war could end through negotiations. He said he wanted to see "some kind of peace agreement" reached soon, arguing that the front line has changed little over the past several years while the human cost of the conflict continues to rise.

Musk also reiterated his view that a settlement would require compromises.
