Belarus warned Poland on Friday of a potential terrorist attack against a convicted Belarusian whose residency was revoked in Poland.Polskie Radio, citing a statement by Minsk’s foreign ministry, said the warning was communicated to Warsaw via Krzysztof Ozanna, Poland’s charge d’affaires in Minsk, who was summoned by the ministry.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official.The ministry said the plot involves a disgruntled Belarusian previously convicted in Belarus whose residency permit was recently revoked by Polish authorities.According to the ministry, he is believed to be targeting the children of a Belarusian activist in Poland, blaming the activist for failing to help him secure residency in the country.Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski confirmed the communication and said authorities are treating the threats seriously.“We take every warning about terrorism seriously and verify it; it’s a matter from a dozen or so hours ago, which we are still investigating,” Sikorski said, as reported by Polish outlet RMF24.Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the Polish minister coordinator of special services, refused to comment on the case but said authorities are treating all threats seriously.“I can assure you that Polish services will never downplay any worrying signal and approach all information about potential threats with due seriousness and firmness,” he told Polish outlet PAP.Poland is home to thousands of Belarusian political refugees, most of whom arrived in the country following the protests and subsequent crackdowns during the 2020 presidential elections.
