Advanced Micro Devices, Inc‘s (NASDAQ:AMD) biggest announcement at its Advancing AI event wasn’t a new chip—it was a much bigger vision for the AI economy.
The company now expects the AI accelerator market to reach $1.4 trillion by 2030, up from more than $1 trillion at its November 2025 Analyst Day and more than $500 billion at last year’s Advancing AI event.
In roughly a year, AMD has nearly tripled its estimate of the long-term AI opportunity.
AI Moves Beyond Chatbots
The company attributed the increase to the rapid rise of agentic AI, arguing that next-generation AI systems will require far more computing power as they move beyond chatbots to autonomous tasks. AMD also raised its forecast for the data center processor market to $220 billion by 2030, up from $120 billion just a few months ago.
