Bhopal, The "violence" against female students during the protests in New Delhi shows how hollow the BJP-led Union government's 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' slogan is, claimed Congress leader Shobha Oza here on Friday.These students were not only injured but also subjected to all manner of brutal acts, molestation, obscenity, and verbal abuse, Oza, former All India Women Congress president, told reporters."The terrifying scenes clearly demonstrate how hollow the slogan 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' is for the ruling BJP," she said while alleging that the brutality of the police force has crossed all limits during the ongoing student protests in Delhi.The students were hit on the face, legs etc, she said. Such barbarity was witnessed for the first time in history, Oza added.Oza said the Narendra Modi government, "stunned by the large number of protesters who had gathered at Jantar Mantar to demonstrate peacefully", vented its anger on the protest leaders instead of accepting the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.Instead of identifying and punishing the police officers responsible for this heinous incident, the government removed their nameplates to conceal their identities, allowing them to freely do as they pleased without anyone recognising them, the Congress leader further alleged.Unfortunately, the BJP, plagued by such anti-women mentality, is ruling in many states today, and therefore, it is not surprising, she said."It is also surprising and shameful that Vijay Shah, the (Madhya Pradesh) minister who insulted our brave sainik sister, Sofia Qureshi, is still in the cabinet. Will Chief Minister Mohan Yadav bother to explain why such a minister has not yet been dismissed from the cabinet," Oza questioned.Shah came under fire after a video showed him allegedly making objectionable remarks against Colonel Qureshi, who gained nationwide prominence for holding media briefings during Operation Sindoor in May last year.It is clear that the anti-women face of BJP governments from Madhya Pradesh to Delhi has now been completely exposed, and that's why millions of young people across the country, including Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi have lent their voices and support to the students' legitimate demands, Oza said.The Congress will continue to agitate till Pradhan resigns, action is taken against police officers responsible for the violence at Jantar Mantar, and PM Modi apologises to the students, Oza said."The male police officers who brutally assaulted the students and committed obscene, shameful, and unforgivable acts of violence against them must be immediately identified, arrested, dismissed, and punished with such severe punitive measures that they set an example," she said.If this does not happen, then the country will be forced to accept that the BJP has never been, is not, and can never be a women's party, she added.
