The Gilan Governorate announced early on Friday morning, July 24, that the United States had conducted an air strike on an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) naval base in the Zibakenar region.

Ali Bagheri, Deputy Governor for Political Affairs in Gilan Province, confirmed that equipment at the “Seyyed al-Shohada Base” was damaged during the attack. He stated that preliminary assessments indicated that no casualties had been reported so far.

Iranian domestic media outlets also confirmed the strike without providing further details about the extent of the structural damage or the methods used in the attack, reiterating only that no loss of life had been reported.

This marks the first instance in the latest round of U.S. strikes in which an IRGC facility located in northern Iran, along the Caspian Sea coast, has been targeted. Previously, during the 12-day war, select naval assets of the Islamic Republic along the northern coast were also hit.
