E65 will be fully open as of Friday.
As of Friday, the route from Lamia to Egnatia Odos, near Grevena in western Macedonia, will take just one hour and 45 minutes.
The last 46 kilometers of the E65, which were delivered on Thursday and open to traffic on Friday at noon, mark the completion of the highway, which crosses central Greece, facilitating the connection with the Thessaly cities and western Macedonia.
They also mark the end of a long, stormy construction period, which instead of three years, lasted 18, costing the state and the European Union four times as much as had been calculated.
The opening ceremony took place at the 167th km, near the village of Agiofyllo.
