On the night of Thursday, July 24, the commercial vessel Christiana B, which was traveling from the United States to Ukraine, sustained damage in Romania’s exclusive economic zone.

Preliminary assessments indicate that the incident may have been caused by a maritime drone or a sea mine explosion.
According to Romania’s Department for Emergency Situations, the commercial vessel Christiana B was sailing from Norfolk, U.S., to Ukraine when it reported the damage while located approximately 22 nautical miles southeast of Sfântu Gheorghe, in Romania's Exclusive Economic Zone.
The distress signal was received overnight by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center within the Romanian Naval Authority via the international maritime emergency channel.
