This is the moment a drunk driver flies through the air and smashes his Land Rover into a lamppost while his girlfriend is sat in the passenger seat.Alistair Thompson, 34, was more than twice over the legal limit when he crashed his car in Aberdeen on November 14 last year.In dramatic CCTV footage, shown to Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Thompson's Land Rover can be seen gliding through the air, narrowly missing a collision with another vehicle, before careering into a lamppost where it comes to an abrupt stop.Thompson's girlfriend also suffered injuries in the crash but has since made a full recovery.Now, Thompson has been sentenced for driving while under the influence and driving dangerously.Defence solicitor Paul Barnett said: 'There is no attempt from either myself or Mr Thompson to minimise that conduct.'He's described as being remorseful. He's ashamed of his actions. He describes his conduct as reckless and quite stupid.'Mr Barnett added that Thompson 'to his credit' had not drunk since the incident.
