Ethio Telecom, Ethiopia's state-owned telecoms behemoth, claimed a significant rise in profit for the fiscal year 2025/26, owing to rapid subscriber growth, expanded digital offerings, and the sustained success of its mobile money platform, Telebirr.

The corporation reported a net profit of $581 million, up 47.5% from $394 million in the previous fiscal year.

Ethio Telecom's revenue also increased dramatically over the period, reaching approximately $1.35 billion, up 33.2% from $1.01 billion the previous year, as seen on Sputnik.

Chief Executive Officer Frehiwot Tamiru presented the company's annual performance report, stating that Ethio Telecom's overall subscriber base has expanded to 90.1 million, indicating continuous investment in network development and digital infrastructure across the nation.

She stated that the corporation has remained committed to assisting Ethiopia's digital transformation strategy, including extending access to modern telecoms services and using emerging technologies to boost statewide connectivity.
