Ousted as leader of Türkiye's main opposition party Republician People's Party (CHP), Özgur Özel on July 24 said he was resigning to set up his own opposition faction.
In a video posted on X, Özel signed his resignation papers and also signed the founding documents for the "Yeni Parti" ("New Party"), saying another 91 CHP lawmakers had also resigned and would be joining him.
