The government has approved 11 defense procurement programs worth a combined €4.2 billion, with the largest investment focused on an Israeli technology-based air defense shield known as Achilles’ Shield.
The package received approval from the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defense (KYSEA).
The air defense project is expected to cost about €3.1 billion and is to be delivered within 35 months of contract signing.
The systems are Israeli-made, but 12 Greek companies will participate after negotiations secured domestic industrial involvement exceeding €700 million.
That represents 25% of the project’s value, matching a condition set by the Greek government for defense procurement agreements.
