Mandela Day support As part of their Mandela Day initiative, Sanette Nortje of Century 21 Bluff and Wazeefa Khan of K&R Inc. Attorneys donated sanitary pads to Roshni Naicker, founder of the Merebank-based NPO Save the Dignity of Our School Girls. The donation will be distributed to learners when schools reopen.

For hundreds of thousands of schoolgirls across South Africa, the monthly dread of missing school simply because they cannot afford basic sanitary products remains a devastating reality.

In Merebank and surrounding south basin communities, that silent struggle is being met head-on by a relentless grassroots movement. Driven by a determination to keep vulnerable learners in the classroom, local non-profit organisation Save the Dignity of Our School Girls kicked off its latest distribution project as schools reopened this week, gearing up for expanded efforts as Women's Month approaches.

To keep this vital operation afloat, founder Roshni Naicker is rallying the community for a Women’s Day fundraiser on 9 August at Punjab Circle Park in Merebank. Featuring Zumba and yoga sessions, motivational speakers, and family activities, the event aims to raise critical funds to sustain supply lines. The first 50 women in attendance will also receive free goodie bags.
