Metro by T-Mobile is handing out the new Samsung Galaxy A37 5G at no cost when you port in an eligible number. That’s $450-plus back in your pocket, with no activation fee, and taxes and fees included. The full stack of upfront costs is completely eliminated, which is unusual enough that it’s worth saying twice: The phone is free, the activation is free, and your first bill won’t have a line-item surprise where they collect what they gave you back.

The Galaxy A37 5G is Samsung’s latest entry in the mid-range A series, and it runs on T-Mobile’s network, which Ookla ranked as America’s best based on second-half 2025 Speedtest Intelligence data. Metro operates on that same infrastructure at a lower price point, which is all the pitch needed to grab our attention. You get the 5G coverage and network quality without paying the premium carrier rate for it. (And the Samsung Galaxy A37 5G is on the house.)

A Series Is Grade-A

The A37 sits in the mid-level tier of Samsung phones where the hardware overdelivers on expectations by being genuinely very good. The A series has gotten consistently better over the past few iterations, and the A37 carries that momentum. 5G connectivity is the obvious top-line spec, but day-to-day the things that matter are the display quality, camera, and how well the phone handles the workload of being an actual phone without stuttering. Samsung’s A-series track record here is solid.
