A feasibility study for the proposed Shravanabelagola–Madikeri railway line via Holenarasipur, Arkalgud, Konanur and Kushalnagar has been completed by the Ministry of Railways, but the project has been found to have low traffic projections, reducing its prospects for sanction in the near future.The information was disclosed by Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a written reply to an unstarred question raised by Shreyas M. Patel, Hassan MP, in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday (July 22).According to the Minister, Shravanabelagola and Mangaluru are already connected through the existing railway network via Hassan. To improve connectivity to Madikeri, the Railways conducted a feasibility study for a 117-km new railway line connecting Shravanabelagola and Madikeri. However, the study concluded that the proposed corridor has low traffic potential.
