MANILA, Philippines — Tropical storm wind signals were hoisted over parts of Northern Luzon on Friday, July 24, as Kiyapo, formerly a tropical depression, further intensified into a tropical storm, the state weather bureau reported.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Obet Badrina said during a 5 a.m. weather advisory that Wind Signal No. 2 was raised over Batanes, northern portion of Mainland Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands, and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte, due to Kiyapo.
