Peacock‘s Dungeon Crawler Carl series has cast its first actor — one who will be familiar to those who have listened to the audiobook versions of Matt Dinniman’s novels.

Jeff Hays, the narrator and producer of the DCC audiobooks, will voice the character of Princess Donut in the live-action series. Princess Donut is a key character in the books, a cat belonging to Carl’s ex-girlfriend who acquires the ability to speak when they become part of a survival game show run by the aliens who have destroyed most of humanity.

Hays joined Dinniman and Matt Yost, writer and executive producer of the Peacock series, on stage Thursday at Comic-Con to announce his casting.

Peacock placed a series order for Dungeon Crawler Carl in June. The show comes from Universal Global Television and Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door Productions, which hold the rights to Dinniman’s book series. Yost (Maul: Shadow Lord) is executive producing with MacFarlane, Erica Huggins and Rachel Hargreaves-Heald for Fuzzy Door. Dinniman is a co-exec producer.
