July 23 (UPI) -- Patrick Kane agreed to a two-year, $16 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, the team announced Thursday.
The veteran winger, who initially joined the NHL franchise as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft, spent the last three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings. He totaled 57 points, from 41 assists and 16 goals, over 67 appearances in 2025-26.
Kane, 37, ranks second among active NHL players in career assists, trailing only Sidney Crosby. His 1,400 career points trail only Crosby, Alex Ovechkin and Evgeni Malkin.
"Day in and day out for 16 seasons, Patrick captivated the city of Chicago with his dazzling skill, creating some of the most memorable moments in Blackhawks history as he helped bring our storied franchise back to the pinnacle of our sport," Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson said in a news release.
