The iconic Muizenberg beach huts in Cape Town.
The iconic beach huts at Muizenberg Beach will be dismantled next week as the City of Cape Town's beachfront refurbishment project moves into its next phase.
In a statement, the City said a contractor will dismantle the remaining four beach huts on the eastern side of the beachfront as work shifts to that section of the beach.
The City said the huts will be replaced with similar structures in keeping with the beachfront's heritage once the project has been completed.
The refurbishment of the Muizenberg beachfront entails replacing the aged seawalls and major upgrades to public amenities. The project commenced in February 2025, and is set for completion by December 2026.
