The five KZN teams in the Premiership, Lamontville Golden Arrows, AmaZulu, Durban City, Richards Bay and Milford FC, will be joined by Midlands Wanderers from the First Division.
AmaZulu set the pace for the province last season, commanding that fourth spot since early in the season and maintaining it throughout to the finish. Over the long run, AmaZulu looked and performed the best.
Fans would naturally expect them to take home the silverware as a conciliation after finishing just short of CAF football and getting eliminated from the Nedbank Cup.
