PAT declines by 24% to ₹382 croreCoromandel International Ltd, a Murugappa Group company that provides agri solutions, posted a consolidated net profit of ₹382 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, compared with ₹502 crore in the comparable quarter last year, a decline of 24 per cent. The company attributed this decline to the elevated raw material costs triggered by the ongoing West Asia crisis that ‘weighed’ on the performance of the fertilizer business. The company, however, registered a 15 per cent increase in its total income at ₹8,215 crore in the quarter compared with ₹7,126 crore in the comparable quarter last year. “During the quarter, the West Asia conflict resulted in a sharp escalation in raw material prices, while subsidy rates remained inadequate to fully offset the increased input costs,” S Sankarasubramanian, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Coromandel International Ltd, has said.“Despite this challenging environment, we could strengthen our leadership position in thePhosphatic Fertilizers segment by improving market share and adopting a disciplined approach to production, procurement and inventory management, ensuring uninterrupted fertilizer supplies to the farming community,” he said here in a statement on Thursday. He said the company leveraged the strength of its diversified business portfolio and strong execution capabilities to deliver robust growth across its non-subsidy businesses. “This has helped in partially offsetting headwinds in fertilizer segment,” he added.“The brownfield fertilizer granulation project, which will add 7.5 lakh tonnes of annual capacity, is progressing as planned and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this financial year,” he said.Published on July 23, 2026
