‘Museum on the Road’ initiative brings interactive experience to schools across Riyadh

RIYADH: The Museums Commission of Saudi Arabia has launched “Museum on the Road,” its first mobile unit built specifically for students, which was inaugurated on Wednesday at The Cultural House in Riyadh.

A specially equipped truck, converted into a fully interactive exhibition space, will travel directly to schools across Riyadh, bringing cultural discovery into classrooms.

Dr. Taghreed Al-Saraj, who is leading “Museum on the Road,” told Arab News: “It is the first of its kind in Saudi. It’s a museum on wheels basically, so it goes to schools, elementary, middle and high school, and it shows the students how the museum can be incorporated in their educational system.

“They go out and they do some workshops. And in those workshops they incorporate the ideas that they saw here (the museum truck). It introduces the education system into what they can add or what they can benefit from what they’ve seen, so it complements their trip here.”
