A group of 14 members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) were arrested in Tiruchi on Thursday after they set afire an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding the resignation of the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and a ban on NEET. The protest was organised near the TVS Tollgate, where the DYFI members who had assembled suddenly set afire the effigy, raising slogans demanding that the Centre to repeal NEET. The protesters lay themselves on the road, raising slogans, when a group of police personnel arrested them. The protest was led by the organisation’s district president Santhosh. Meanwhile, a group of 29 DYFI and Students’ Federation of India members who resorted to a waiting agitation near the old bus stand in Pudukottai condemning the Centre for the attack on the protesters in Delhi and demanding the resignation of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were arrested by the police on Thursday.
