New Delhi: Even as the protests over the NEET paper leak continue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Thursday that the government will set up fast-track courts to ensure speedy and strict punishment to the culprits. He assured the nation that those who act against the interest of the youth will have to face the consequences.In a message on social media site X, Modi said, “Nothing is more important than the welfare and future of our youth! We have decided to set up fast-track courts to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leaks. Have directed the concerned authorities and officials to take all necessary steps in this regard. This continues our series of steps for safeguarding the interests of students. Those who try to harm the future of our youth will not be spared.”Modi’s remarks have come in the midst of the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar and its echo in both Houses of Parliament. The agitation has also spread to some parts of the country. Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi had led a Congress protest outside the prime minister’s residence on Tuesday.On Tuesday, the prime minister had spoken on this issue at the BJP parliamentary party meeting. He had given a call to eminent lawyers to come forward and fight the case against those arrested for paper leaks and ensure that they get the harshest punishment.Government sources have indicated in the last few days that all necessary steps will be taken to find the guilty and also to plug the loopholes that have led to a conspicuous number of paper leaks in the past few months.
