India and the UAE have initiated work to integrate India’s DigiLocker with UAE digital platforms to enable seamless authentication of Indian academic degrees and other documents, a move aimed at easing employment and educational opportunities for Indian professionals in the Gulf nation.The initiative was discussed in a separate meeting on the sidelines of the India-UAE Joint Consular Committee (JCCA) meeting in New Delhi, where the two sides also reviewed cooperation on consular matters, labour and mobility, and issues related to extradition and mutual legal assistance, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).“A separate meeting took place between the two sides to work towards integrating India’s Digilocker with the UAE platforms for seamless authentication of Indian academic degrees/documents, which will benefit Indian professionals working in the UAE and facilitate greater economic and educational opportunities,” the statement highlighted.During the JCCA meeting, the two delegations reviewed progress since the previous meeting in Abu Dhabi in November 2025 and welcomed regular exchanges on key consular issues. Emphasising the welfare and well-being of their citizens, both sides agreed to strengthen co-operation in the consular, visa and legal domains, continue monthly review mechanisms and hold technical-level meetings to implement the decisions taken.The Indian side also appreciated the support extended by the UAE leadership and authorities for the welfare of the Indian community in the UAE. Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety, dignity and well-being of their citizens residing in each other’s countries, the MEA said.Published on July 23, 2026
