Airtel Africa has chosen the London Stock Exchange for the planned listing of its Airtel Money business, betting that one of the world’s biggest financial centres can help unlock the value of a fintech platform that now processes more than $245 billion in annualised transactions.
The listing, expected in the second half of 2026 subject to regulatory approvals, marks a major milestone for Airtel Money as the company seeks to capitalise on the rapid adoption of digital payments and financial services across Africa.
Chief executive Sunil Taldar said London would provide access to a broad international investor base while supporting the company’s ambition to unlock the long-term value of one of Africa’s leading fintech platforms.
The decision ends months of speculation over where Airtel would float the business and comes at a time when London is seeking to attract more high-profile international listings after losing several companies to rival exchanges in recent years.
Financial media have described the planned flotation as one of the largest London IPOs expected this year.
