The countdown is almost over as the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) kicks off in Morocco from July 26 to August 16, bringing together Africa's top women's national teams for three weeks of thrilling football.
The tournament comes just days after the men's FIFA World Cup, where African teams impressed with spirited performances despite several suffering heartbreaking late knockout defeats.
A total of 16 teams will battle for continental glory, with more than just the title at stake. The tournament will also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil, with the top four teams securing automatic qualification.
Nigeria's Super Falcons once again head into the competition as the team to beat.
