The Scot needed medical attention after feeling faint and swaying at the oche.‌The 37-year-old was unsteady on his feet and there was real concern shown by the referee and opponent Smith. After being assessed by medical professionals, the incident was put down to high blood pressure.‌Writing on Facebook, Menzies has now given an update. “Thanks to everyone who’s checked in and sent messages. I’m okay," he said.Smith wrote on X: "So glad my good friend Cameron Menzies is ok. Health comes before anything. You will come back stronger than ever. Love ya mate."A PDC statement on Wednesday night read: "Cameron Menzies was taken ill during his round two match against Ross Smith at the Betfred World Matchplay on Wednesday evening.‌"Cameron experienced high blood pressure, which caused him to feel dizzy and subsequently faint. Following an assessment by the on-site medical team, Cameron was deemed well enough to return to his accommodation."We wish Cameron all the best and look forward to seeing him back in action soon."Menzies is the world No.27 and has been in great form. He lead Smith 2-1 when dizziness struck, prompting Glen Durrant to say on Sky Sports: "He's in tip top form at the moment. It's a real tough one to take."‌With Menzies unable to continue, Smith advanced to the quarter finals of the competition alongside Gian van Veen, James Wade and Gerwyn Price.Having trailed 3-2, Price won six legs in succession to knock out Rob Cross by a 11-5 scoreline. The Welshman will face Smith in the last eight at Winter Gardens.‌Van Veen booked his quarter-final spot by overcoming fellow Dutchman Wessel Nijman 14-12 in a tie-break.Wade, meanwhile, beat 11th seed Ryan Searle 11-8 to set up a quarter-final against Van Veen.
