I was glad to receive many thoughtful responses to my article last week asking for advice in case I become politically homeless. There are corners of the internet—wide swaths of it, actually—where a call for advice wouldn’t go well. A common response in those spaces would be something along the lines of “Here’s my advice: Take your [body part] and [action verb] it up your [anatomically dissimilar body part].” But that’s not how it went: Dispatch readers were overwhelmingly helpful, with admirably few telling me to place a body part in/on/through/betwixt a place where it is unlikely to be able to fit.
