A 66-year-old woman who had been living in a makeshift tent behind an electrical substation on church property in New Germany, Durban, has been rescued and placed in a safe home.
A warm bath was all a elderly woman wanted when a Good Samaritan organisation extended a hand of assistance and rescued her from living in a makeshift shelter behind an electrical substation on church property in New Germany, Durban, without anyone knowing they were there.
That was home for the the 66-year-old woman and her 33-year-old son for nearly three-months.
The woman has since been housed in a place of safety this week where her essential needs are being attended to, while the son has elected to continue in the informal dwelling place.
The discovery was made after community upliftment organisation The Elders Voice KZN received an alert on a Sunday evening about the pair's living conditions.
