It stressed that the Service-Wide Vote is neither a secret fund nor an illegal slush account, contrary to Atiku's claims.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, of spreading falsehoods and displaying a poor understanding of Nigeria's public finance system after he alleged that the 2026 Service-Wide Vote (SWV) had been earmarked to finance President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 re-election campaign.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party described Atiku's allegation as highly mischievous and evidence of disturbing ignorance of the purpose of the Service-Wide Vote.
The APC said Atiku failed to provide any evidence to support what it described as a sensational allegation, insisting that the claim was based on speculation aimed at misleading Nigerians and distracting attention from what it called the Tinubu administration's achievements.
"Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has become more disoriented and misguided than ever before in the history of his failed serial presidential bid,” the party said.
