ADC Crisis: Protesters Reject Alleged Atiku Move To Replace Babachir's Cousin OMarana As Adamawa Gov Candidate

Fresh cracks have emerged in the Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following allegations that former Vice President and the party's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is backing moves to replace the party's governorship candidate, Omar Suleiman, popularly known as OMarana.

The crisis came to a head on Wednesday when hundreds of OMarana's supporters marched to the party's state secretariat in Yola, protesting what they described as a calculated attempt to remove him as the party's candidate ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Waving placards with inscriptions such as "Hands Off OMarana," "Respect Internal Democracy," and "No to Imposition," the protesters insisted that OMarana remains the party's legitimate governorship candidate and vowed to resist any attempt to substitute him.

Speaking to journalists during the protest, one of the demonstrators, Damaris Yalawa, warned that replacing OMarana would have serious consequences for the ADC in Adamawa.
