LASTMA in a statement issued by its Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, said the driver attempted to escape without stopping to assist the victim or report the crash to the authorities.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has arrested a tanker driver who allegedly fled after fatally knocking down a commercial delivery motorcycle rider along Kodesho Road in the Maryland-Ikeja area of Lagos.
According to the agency, the incident occurred opposite the MRS Filling Station inward Awolowo Way/Oba Akran, when a fully loaded tanker transporting 33-litre groundnut oil containers allegedly struck the rider, killing him instantly.
LASTMA in a statement issued by its Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, said the driver attempted to escape without stopping to assist the victim or report the crash to the authorities.
“The tragic incident occurred when a fully laden tanker with registration number T-19089LA conveying 33-litre groundnut oil, violently struck and fatally crushed the delivery rider, resulting in his instantaneous death,” Taofiq stated.
