France has passed a law prohibiting under-15s from using social media services, making it the first European country to bring in such restrictions.
The country’s parliament, consisting of the Senate and the National Assembly, adopted the law by an overwhelming majority.
French president Emmanuel Macron, who will now sign the bill into law, had asked for the legislative process to be expedited so that it would come into effect before the beginning of the next school year in September.
