Sahara Group has called for increased investment and improved journalism practices to support Africa’s energy growth and transition, stressing the need for solutions that reflect the continent’s realities.
In a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Wednesday, the call was made at the third edition of Asharami Square, a Sahara Group thought leadership initiative themed “Energising Africa’s Future: Legacy, Impact and Transformation.”
Speaking at the event, the Director, Governance and Sustainability, Sahara Group, Ejiro Gray, said Africa’s energy future must be shaped by forward-looking strategies that prioritise partnerships, innovation and sustainable development.
Gray said the continent requires balanced and evidence-based reporting that goes beyond headlines to examine the complexities of energy transition, infrastructure development and sustainability.
