Police say the requirement is in line with current legislation.

Drivers in Slovakia may face a fine for carrying bicycles on a rear car carrier if the load is not marked with a reflective warning board, according to a recent TV Markíza report.

The issue came to light after a driver named Miroslav was stopped by police near Čertovica in northern Slovakia. Officers told him that the bicycles attached to his carrier needed the same type of reflective marking used for oversized loads.

Miroslav said he had never heard of such a requirement and had never seen other drivers using the boards.

“I said that no driver in Slovakia uses this board on a bicycle carrier. It was the first time I had heard that we were required to carry something like this,” he told TV Markíza.
