The Thiruvananthapuram City Police have announced extensive traffic regulations in connection with the Students Federation of India (SFI)’s ‘Charter of Rights’ march scheduled to be taken out to Kerala Lok Bhavan on Thursday.The restrictions will be in force from 11 a.m. until the conclusion of the march.Vehicles coming from the Peroorkada side and proceeding towards Vellayambalam, East Fort and Thampanoor will be diverted through Ulloor, Sasthamangalam, Kochar Road, Edapazhanji, Sree Moolam Club Junction, Vazhuthacaud and the Women’s College junction. Smaller vehicles have been advised to use the Kowdiar–Golf Links–Belhaven–Sasthamangalam route.Vehicles travelling from the Thampanoor and East Fort areas towards Peroorkada and Sasthamangalam will be diverted through the Overbridge, Thampanoor, Manacaud, Plamoodu, Marappalam, Kuravankonam and Kowdiar. Smaller vehicles have been directed to use the Corporation Office–Nandancode–Devaswom Board–TTC–Golf Links route.The police stated that heavy traffic congestion is expected in and around the Corporation Office, Plamoodu, Marappalam, Kuravankonam, Kowdiar, Golf Links, TTC, Belhaven, Sasthamangalam, Edapazhanji, Vazhuthacaud, Vellayambalam and Museum.Vehicles bringing participants to the march have been instructed to drop them off and then proceed to park at the Attukal Temple parking ground and along the Karamana–Kaliyikkavila road in a manner that does not obstruct traffic.The police have also prohibited parking on major roads and interior roads in the city. Vehicles found to be parked in violation of the restrictions will be removed using recovery vehicles and legal action will be initiated against the owners, an official release stated.
