Renewable energy firm Solaer has announced its entry into the digital infrastructure market with the development of an energy project designed to power a future data center campus in Chile’s Atacama Desert.

The initiative will combine a 197MW photovoltaic plant with a 500MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), with the goal of providing a stable, renewable power supply for high-density workloads, including those associated with artificial intelligence.

The project represents a strategic step for the company, which is expanding its operations beyond renewable generation to position itself as a provider of energy solutions for high-consumption digital infrastructure.

The combination of solar generation and storage will enable a more stable power supply profile—a key factor for data centers, whose electricity demand requires high levels of availability and operational continuity.

Solaer’s project takes advantage of the conditions in the Atacama Desert—one of the regions with the highest solar radiation in the world—to supply energy to a future data center campus designed to host computationally intensive workloads.
