Latin American telecoms company América Móvil has agreed to acquire 100 percent of WOW Tel S.A.C., a Peruvian operator specializing in fiber optic Internet services, in a deal aimed at expanding its telecommunications infrastructure and strengthening its position in the country’s fixed-broadband market.

The acquisition will be carried out through América Móvil Perú S.A.C., the company’s subsidiary in Peru, which will purchase all of WOW’s shares from Liberty Latin America and Narvik Capital Partners.

The transaction is nearing completion and remains subject to the customary conditions for this type of deal, including approval from the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi).

Terms of the deal were not shared.

WOW has established itself as one of Peru’s leading alternative fiber-optic operators thanks to a strategy focused on deploying FTTH networks outside the Lima metropolitan area.
