ChristianaCare Advances Epic Electronic Health Record Implementation Ahead of October 3, 2026 Go-Live
Training, readiness and new patient-facing tools support a safer, more connected care experience
ChristianaCare is transforming its approach to healthcare delivery by implementing Epic, one of the nation’s most widely used electronic health record (EHR) platforms, by bringing clinical information, care team workflows and patient-facing tools into a more connected digital environment. Epic supports safer, more coordinated care by making information easier to access across settings, reducing duplication and strengthening continuity. For patients, Epic’s secure online patient portal, MyChart makes it easier to view health information, communicate with care teams, manage appointments and receive care when and where they need it.
With less than three months remaining until go-live, ChristianaCare is advancing the final stage of its Epic implementation, scheduled to launch on October 3, 2026. The work brings together caregiver training, operational readiness and new patient-facing digital tools to support safe, coordinated care during the transition and beyond.
“As we move into the final months before go-live, our focus is on preparing our caregivers through a training model that combines convenient on-demand learning with live, role-based instruction,” said Ric Cuming, Ed.D., MSN, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, chief operating officer at ChristianaCare. “We are taking a deliberate approach to help protect patient safety and maintain continuity of care, including readiness checks designed to ensure caregivers complete required training before they use the new system.”
