DP World has signed a 50-year concession with the Fujairah Ports Authority to develop two new deepwater terminals on the UAE's east coast.
The terminals will bypass the Strait of Hormuz, providing an alternative trade route amid ongoing disruption caused by the US-Iran war.
The development will increase DP World's UAE container handling capacity from 19.4 million TEUs to nearly 22 million TEUs.
The terminals will be connected to Jebel Ali and Jafza via an inland logistics network, with construction expected to take up to 30 months.
