Riyadh-based cyber economics center sets research priorities as threats reshape global economy
RIYADH: The Centre for Cyber Economics, a joint initiative between the Global Cybersecurity Forum and the World Economic Forum, has outlined its strategic research priorities as it seeks to deepen global understanding of the economic impact of cyber threats.
The priorities were agreed during the CCE’s third executive committee meeting in Riyadh, at which members reviewed progress since the platform’s launch and discussed the next phase of research aimed at helping governments, businesses and policymakers better assess the economic value of cybersecurity and the cost of cyber incidents, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The committee reaffirmed five key areas of focus: measuring the macroeconomic impact of cybersecurity; developing the cybersecurity workforce; strengthening cyber insurance and risk mitigation; creating resilience metrics for industries and critical sectors; and quantifying the economic impact of cyber incidents.
Alaa Al-Faadhel, the managing director of the CCE, said cybersecurity’s economic dimension was becoming important for governments, businesses and societies worldwide.
