Samsung has officially unveiled its new Galaxy Z Fold 8, which goes beyond a generation refresh, delivering a completely new form factor in the company’s foldable lineup – one that might feel familiar to early entrants in the foldable space. And it starts at $1,899.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 offers up this new form factor that includes a much wider inner display, and a short and compact outer display. Those measure in at 7.6-inch and 5.5-inch, respectively. They’re flagship-tier displays, with the inner display topping out at 3,000 nits and both at 120Hz as well.
The inner display is roughly at a 4:3 aspect ratio – give or take about 10 pixels – while the outer display is close to 10:16 in portrait. Samsung also touts that this is the lightest book-style foldable at just 201g.
Under the hood, it’s packing Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 “for Galaxy” alongside either 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB or 1TB of storage. It ships with Android 17 and One UI 9 out of the box with 7 years of OS and security updates.
That said, there are some compromises in this form factor.
