Gordon Ramsay visited a restaurant where the head chef specialised in 'fine dining', but what he was served made him physically throw up.13:20, 22 Jul 2026Gordon Ramsay fumed "how can you eat that?" after a head chef served him a rotten meal which made him throw up.‌TV chef Gordon Ramsay is renowned for touring the globe as he attempts to whip failing kitchens, hotels and restaurants into shape.‌With his sharp tongue and no-nonsense attitude, he is the perfect man for the job when it comes to businesses in denial.‌In the very first episode of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, which is available to stream on Channel 4, Ramsay visited Bonapartes in Silsden, West Yorkshire.The kitchen was ran by 21-year-old head chef, Tim Gray, and his colleague, Lee, but they were struggling to serve more than two tables a night, with the restaurant barely making £200 a week through food sales.Ramsey paid the kitchen a visit to watch Tim and Lee in action, and he was immediately aware of the pair's disorientation and untimeliness, but it was a rotten meal that tipped Ramsay over the edge.‌Tim was given the opportunity to serve Ramsay his signature dish, scallops with black pudding, and while it looked 'OK' from the outset, Ramsay quickly realised something was wrong.When asked what he thought, he paused for a moment in silence before holding his hand to his mouth and walking outside, where he immediately attempted to vomit up the meal.‌"He's going to be sick," Tim chuckled, but he quickly realised it was no laughing matter."He's only gone and given me a rancid scallop", Ramsay said in the narration. "Can someone get him a drink?" Tim said, looking worried, as Lee replied: "S***."Outside, Ramsay asked: "How can you eat that? If you knew they were off, why didn't you say?"‌Tim claimed he did not know the scallops were off, before Ramsay added: "They are f****** minging. Do you not taste that?""I do now, yeah, it took a while," Tim admitted, as Ramsay then vomited a second time.‌"I know what you mean, I feel sick myself now," Tim shared as he started looking uncomfortable.Speaking directly to the cameras after recovering in the episode, which aired back in 2004, Ramsay said: "It's grim. It's f****** grim, and it's out of order.""I didn't realise they were f****** off," Tim said angrily, before adding: "Though I suppose it's my fault, really."‌"That could kill someone, that's the bottom line," Ramsay starkly warned.The end of the episode saw the restaurant owner make the decision to close the kitchen down, but it reopened the next day.
