TV licence fee income has fallen by more than £1billion in real terms in the last decade, with half a million people stopping paying for one in the latest financial year.But the BBC said licence sales performed 'very strongly' during the World Cup after it displayed a QR code during matches with the message: 'Buy a TV Licence'.New BBC boss Matt Brittin said last month that he was 'open to all options' and pushing for a mandatory 'household levy' to replace the optional licence.A household levy would mean everyone pays a mandatory fee to the BBC regardless of whether people watch or listen to its programmes - but critics have raised questions over being made to pay for a service they might not actually be using.The licence fee price increased to £180 a year from April 1, up from £174.50.
