TVTV NewsBBCCoverage of The Hundred returned to the BBC this week, but viewers aren't happy11:37, 22 Jul 2026Updated 11:39, 22 Jul 2026BBC viewers weren't impressed as they tuned in to watch The Hundred this week. The Hundred is a professional cricket league that uses the 100-ball cricket format. The format was invented with the expectation that each match would last around two-and-a-half hours. The BBC usually airs coverage of the matches, while all of the women's matches and some of the men's matches are also available to stream for free on Sky Sports' YouTube channel. On Tuesday (July 21), the BBC aired live coverage of the MI London women's match against Sunrisers Leeds from The Kia Oval in London. Coverage aired from 2.30pm until 6pm on BBC Two, before the men's match was shown until 9.30pm.Isa Guha was on hand to host proceedings, alongside Alex Hartley. However, many viewers were left unimpressed just minutes into the coverage. Many fans complained about the poor sound quality and the match commentary. "I see @thehundred are persisting with the (poor) idea that live music is a good addition to the experience. Poor sound quality, completely wrong crowd set up, rubbish vibes. Looks bad in-person and on TV," one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).Another added: "#TheHundred some of the BBC commentary is awful," while a third said: "Although less keen on this format, I was looking forward to watching the Hundred tonight but I forgot how irritating the incessant commentary/punditry is. Just wish they'd shut up. Also find the questions to players on field intrusive & distracting."Someone else commented: "Come on @BBCSport we're watching @thehundred and it's very poor sound quality from the ground... not what we expect of the BBC at all."Another shared: "Watching The Hundred cricket. What an abomination! Why don't they show how many runs have been scored? Just shows runs read and balls left to bowl. And the graphics are rhubarb."A sixth viewer echoed the sentiment, saying: "Watching the Hundreds this evening. The camera work is atrocious. Two wickets which the camera failed to follow the ball. Typical BBC."Meanwhile, others were delighted to see the tournament return with several new presenters. World Cup winner and one of the world's fastest bowlers, Mark Wood, has joined the BBC's punditry line-up alongside former India Test captain Ajinkya Rahane, ex-New Zealand international Katey Martin and current England Test opener Emilio Gay.Coverage of The Hundred continues today (Wednesday, July 22) with the Southern Brave men and women taking on their Welsh Fire counterparts in Southampton."So many exciting young talents to keep an eye on today. An absolutely packed day of The Hundred awaits," one excited fan wrote on X.Article continues belowCoverage of The Hundred is available to stream on BBC iPlayerChoose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.‌BBCThe Hundred Cricket
